 * I just have a question about PHP.
 * > You cannot update because WordPress 3.2.1 requires PHP version 5.2.4 or higher.
   > You are running version 5.1.6.
 * If I update to PHP 5.2.4 will that effect anything else on my server? I have
   other WordPress installs that may not get updated as soon, will the PHP update
   mess them up?
 * thanks!

 * That really depends what else is running on your server.

 * Other WP installs shouldn’t be affected by that. I was running PHP 5.3.x and
   WP 3.1 without issues for a while.

 * Thanks! Mainly I’m concerned about effecting the other WordPress installs. I
   couldn’t find any info good or bad, so this helps.
    Thanks again.

 * I still have one or two WP 2.8 installations running on 5.3.3
 * CAVEAT:
    Upgrading will affect everything else related to it. Which may or may
   not break anything.
 * My rule of thumb is as follows
    – If you’re worried about, then it is important–
   If it is important it has some intrinsic value – If you’re asking vaguely about
   it, then you’re not sure what you’re doing – If you not sure what you are doing,
   and it’s something valuable, it is worth hiring someone that knows what they
   are doing
 * However, I believe in learning by trying, and learning a lot from mistakes 🙂

 * I get this message:
 * You cannot update because WordPress 3.2.1 requires PHP version 5.2.4 or higher.
   You are running version 4.4.9.

 * Do you manage your own server? If not, you need to ask your host about upgrading.
   It may be a simple switch. But it wouldn’t be something you could do as the end
   user….
 * If you do manage your own server….. you really should know how to upgrade php!
   😉

 * Thank you Rev Voodoo!
 * I don’t manage my own server – so it sounds like it would be a Media Temple issue.
   I’ll contact them and see if they can update the PHP.
 * I’m an ignoramus in the back end.

 * Me too! All I know, I owe to google!
 * I would hope media temple would be able to help you. I’m on godaddy, and a while
   back I asked to be moved from php 4.x to 5.x. took about 24 hours, and no complications

 * I went into my Media Temple account, clicked on PHP settings, and selected PHP
   5 from the radio dial menu. It updated automatically and took me 2 minutes to
   then update my WordPress using the automatic update function.
 * It’s NICEEEE!
