 * Hmmm… looks like it might be a plugin doing something wacky? Have you tried disabling
   all plugins one by one, see if any one in particular might be causing this?
 * Looks like something errant has gotten into maybe the filter callback array —
   a missing function or otherwise bad function name.
 * That’s at least where I’d start. (I’ve never seen that particular error before,
   but have had similar whacked things occur during plugin development!)

 * thanks for your shot in the dark! I couldn’t log in so I re-installed wordpress
   leaving wp_content alone and deleted plug-ins I wasn’t sure about via ftp. that
   didn’t work. but when I woke up this morning, low and behold, it was working 
   again.
 * I have no idea what happened there, but I’m glad that its running again. Time
   for another backup!
