WordPress theme for nutrition database

Hey all,

I’m a newbie and I did try to go over many websites, forums, and themes. I basically want to create a responsive and smile website to house a database of food items to be utilized as nutrition handbook.

I have tried many portfolio options, but have had many problems with organization and appearance. I need to give my visitors the ability to filter and search easily through the items which go to approximately 600 items.

Blog posts would be perfect, but not quite sure how to format the home page to filter them and have them appear as small icons like in the portfolio.
