 * Wow is support for WordPress dying or are all of these unresolved posts just
here for functionality? I’ve made a couple posts here that were never answered
and remain unresolved. Just out of couriosity I did a search for all the unresolved
posts and there seems to be pages and pages of unresolved posts so it seems I’m
   not the only one.
 * Is there a support team for WordPress or is it left up to the community of users
   to offer support?

 * It’s always been up to users to help other users – there is no formal team.
 * Answers therefore depend on people having the time and also having the answers.
 * If answers are unresolved it could be because we just do not have the answer –
answers can only come from people who have had the problem, solved the problem
and want to share that information.
 * We don’t like unanswered posts – but if we don’t know, what can we do?

 * That’s cool, thanks for your reply. Shortly after making this post I found the
support post that answered most of this. Sorry I didn’t find it earlier.
 * I kinda figured that since WordPress was so popular they would have a support
team dedicated to this. I guess I was wrong. It would be a nice addition to this
software though, at least someone that knows the code well enough to provide
   the support.
 * The documentation is nice, but it seems somewhat incomplete in many respects.
In any case, thanks again for your reply. 🙂

 * Support and documentation, except for a few cases, are done by unpaid volunteers.
Any contributions are welcome here at the forums. Also, please consider contributing
to the documentation effort at [http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page](http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page)
 * Welcome to WordPress.

 * Where do you post to try to hire paid assistance?

 * Also to clarify, the “unresolved” status is not altered by anyone but the original
poster. Often the solution is provided, but the status is not changed.
 * No reply threads are something we collectively try not see happen.

 * How can you justify paying people to answer questions about software that’s free?
The creators of WordPress make no money OFF of wordpress as far as I’m aware,
since it’s open source, free software. So how are they supposed to pay a support
   team?

 * We are the support team. There’s nothing like trial and error and trial and success
to teach someone how to do something. Besides, for every one person out there
who installs and uses WordPress “right out of the box” for exactly the purpose
it was “meant” to be used, there are hundreds (if not thousands) who tweak it,
extend it, and make it do things no one else thought of.
 * Therefore, for most of us, our only chance at support is to hope that there’s
someone else who tried something remotely close to what we’re diong and will
take a moment to inform us of how they “fixed” it. I intend to be one of those
people now that I’m porting over from the hosted version of WP (wordpress.com)
   to the self-hosted.

 * Well I never said anything about a paid support team. I guess I’m just spoiled
by phpBB and their support team that verifies mods and provides answers to support
questions. Was just hoping that since so many people are now using WordPress,
   they would have something similar.
 * Again most of my questions about this were answered in the first post in the
forums area. I have posted a couple questions in the past but so far all I got
was others also curious about the same issue. Apparently no one knows or are
simply too busy to reply. No big deal, I guess I’ll just have to take the time
to experiment to find out what some of the undocumentented functions really do.

 * Also adding, that many, many volunteers have seemed to come and go.
 * And it seemed to me that a number of the “old” volunteers haven’t been around
as much, or at all, either they are just really busy, decided not to be around,
or whatever the case maybe. Examples like, Viper007Bond, MacManX, Marc a few
   others.
 * I did however speak with Viper on Yahoo Mess the other night about one of his
plugins, and he said he’s just been busy, that’s why he hasn’t been around. So
   I dunno…
 * I have also seen ALOT of others come in too, which is also good. =) I had or
have been trying to help, but just lately I’m very limited to internet time because
of my house arrest situation. I still “sneak” on anyways though lol!! I guess
it’s just my “Internet Addiction” lmao.
 * As for the other people’s replies, I totally agree with what they said. =) Can’t
really be said any better really lol. Everyone is able to help anyone to a degree,
it just depends on what they know to be able to help ya. 😉
 * And also, after awhile of learning on your own, and with the help you receive
in here, you’ll be helping others as well..later on down the road.. 😉
