 * I had a site that was working perfectly and I lost access to the dashboard so
I reinstalled my wordpress application and now I can’t get access to the front
end or the dashboard of the site – I currently get Error establishing database
   connection.
 * When I go to the file manager all files are there and look correct but unsure
   why nothing is showing up.

 * Update – got the site up again but all of my pages are gone, anyway to restore
pages. All of my plugins and addons were deactivated and I lost all of my orders
   for the store.

 * Update two – I was able to point the current installation to the old SQL database
and everything came back.. I think I’m good but definitely didn’t like that learning
   experience.

 * You should check your database and find out if the old database tables are still
there. If they are, you can change the database prefix in **wp-config.php** and
you should see your old site again.
 * However, if you reinstalled WordPress from scratch, using the same database table
prefix (by default this is **wp_**) then you probably overwrote all your previous
   settings.

 * Thanks Mark – that is what I did to fix it.. Luckily I backed up every few days
   so I didn’t lose anything.
