    Hi,

    I would like to know in the case of downloading version 2.9 and uploading it to my hosting account at Hostgator.com do I need to delete my existing wordpress software from my hosting account? Can be mentioned here that I have not started creating my blog yet.

    Just follow the upgrade instructions, but yes you do delete most of the existing install. You can also use the auto-update feature in wp-admin, but a lot of people seem to have trouble with it– of course there is a bias on the forums toward people who are having trouble.
