    Hi All,

Really in a pickle here and would be grateful for any help or advice. A week ago I installed WordPress for my domain http://www.heartsandguns.co.uk. I installed a custom theme and was happily editing away without any problems, now a week later the site and WordPress dashboard are loading so slow it's practically unusable.

I've been through this forum and have followed the advice about clearing the cache and even uninstalled every plugin I had and still the problem persisted! Eventually my (lack of) patience got the better of me and I completely reinstalled WordPress with the latest version, set up a new database and.... the problem is still there! Even with no plugins or themes added my WP dashboard is practically unusable and my default WP homepage takes over 30 seconds to load.

The domain is hosted with 123-Reg so i've just contacted them, but does anyone else have any ideas what the problem might be?

Any advice would be pure gold! Many thanks, Phil.

Loads just fine at my end. Check GTMetrix or Pingdom tests for your site.
You might consider using a caching plugin anyways.

Thanks for your reply Media X!

The plot thickens, i've checked the site at work and i'm having the exact same problem. Also checked on Pingdom and the results vary from 30 seconds to above 1 minute to load the index.

123-Reg have got back to me saying that switching from a Windows hosting package to a Linux one may speed up my site, does that sound like a helpful course of action? Sorry to bombard with questions, but I really am a newbie when it comes to this stuff.

    Many thanks,
