WordPress site redevelopment procedure (5 posts)

I have a new client who already has a WordPress site which she wants me to redevelop.

She wants to keep her content (blog, etc) and doesn't want the site to be down during development.

Would it be possible to copy over her database to our hosting package for development, then bring her url over when it's ready to be launched?

Alternatively, is there a way to keep her site up, and for me to redevelop it in the background, so we can switch over to the new theme when it's ready?

I'd really recommend checking out the theme tester plugin, it allows you to set a theme for general visitors to see and a secondary theme for users who are logged in, so in this case you could set the development theme so you can work on the site without anyone seeing.

I see the plugin was last updated
    Compatible up to: 2.5
    Last Updated: 2008-4-8 Downloads: 16,860

I wonder if it will work on present version 3.3.1

you can try this one if theme tester does not work
I have used it it works on 3.3

I can confirm it works perfectly, it's such a simple / light weight script I strongly recommend it.
