WordPress site lagging

    Hi. Please help. Ive been running Flex mag theme for over a month. I’ve been having loading issues with my site. It’s been happening for about 3 days now. There is a huge lag when trying to get into homepage or even wp backend. If I’m lucky I will get about 20 minutes a day where the site is lightning fast with around 2 seconds loading time on each page.

    Ive been assured on numerous occasions by my host that it is not them. Ive cleared my browsers cache, I’ve deactivated plugins, all to no avail. I have not done anything major to the site since it was running smooth. I have no idea what is causing the lag.

    Please can someone who knows more than I do please offer some assistance. I would be indebted! My site is http://www.promptside.co.za

    You have an average of 4 seconds to first byte, that’s how long it takes the server to reply “Oh hi there, I’m a web server,” and that is definitely a hosting problem.

    For some reason, it also took over a minute to get one of WordPress’s JavaScript files, which could be anything from a bad file to the server failing and re-trying mid-download.

    I recommend directing your hosting provider to the above link. If they refuse to improve at least the time to first byte, it might be time for a new hosting provider.

    That makes sense. According to my host, after finally reaching them today, I was told that my site is demanding far too much resources, therefore I should consider dedicated hosting due the limited CGI php allocation on my current shared server.

    I somehow feel that my site isn’t ready for a ‘whole’ dedicated server?

    I have to agree, there’s Managed WordPress hosting and VPS hosting along the road long before Dedicated.

    Who’s your hosting provider?
