  • Hi folks, I’m in a bit of a bad situation. I switched hosts this week and I’ve been trying to get the site up and running again. I followed the standard procedure for this: I exported a copy of site .XML, I exported the SQL database, and I also downloaded all of the files to my computer.

I get the DNS working fine. I upload the files to the new server and import the database to phpmyadmin. Right off the bat things start looking weird. There’s posts listed under the pages and viceversa. The links go to 404 pages, then I changed permalinks to default and they work but it sends me to a page that has ALL of the posts and pages visible.

    It’s a mess.

Ok so the database doesnt work, let’s see what happens when I just import the WP .XML file ….

Ok so this time the posts and pages and links seem to be working fine, but the theme is all out of whack. The images aren’t loading, the css is not working.

What do you guys think? Should I call it quits and rebuild the site from scratch, or is it still savable?

*Please note that I have a load of plugins installed and I bought the theme off of ThemeForest
