When I try to update WordPress SEO by Yoast to the version 1.4.22, I see this:

The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

    Enabling Maintenance mode…

    Updating Plugin WordPress SEO (1/1)
    Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/wordpress-seo.1.4.22.zip…

Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file /tmp/wordpress-seo.tmp because No such file or directory in /home/medica87/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 155

Warning: unlink(/tmp/wordpress-seo.tmp) [function.unlink]: Operation not permitted in /home/medica87/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 479
An error occurred while updating WordPress SEO: Download failed. Could not open handle for fopen() to /tmp/wordpress-seo.tmp
    Disabling Maintenance mode…

    All updates have been completed.

    Thanks in advance

You should aim your question more directly here. But check his 'read this before you post' entry at the top of that page.

@charizars: I overcame the problem by:

    1. Backing up the settings from the WordPress SEO by Yoast Import & Export tab.
    2. Removing the plugin and re-installing it.
    3. Importing the settings from the back up file.

You're done. I hope it works fine for you.
