WordPress Searches Don't Work for Exact Phrases

  • WordPress version: 3.5.1
    WordPress SEO version: 1.4.7

If I search for an exact phrase in quotes using WordPress’s built in search function (for example I type in “jeff hanneman” with quotes around it just like that) I get the following error message:

    Nothing Found
Sorry, but nothing matched your search criteria. Please try again with some different keywords.

The existence of quotation marks seems to cause a problem. If I remove the quotation marks it works OK, although of course I get a different search result than desired.

If I disable the WordPress SEO plugin, the search function works as normal with quotation marks — it turns up results with the exact phrase.
