 * I do have problems with installing WordPress. The first problem is that WP does
   not seem to create the pages. The admin works, i can post, but everypost and
   other link on the website doesnot appear, the server says that the page is not
   available on the server.
 * The second problem is that when i update permalink, the system crashes. WP creates
   a htaccess on the server root that creates this message on every page:
 * Forbidden
 * You don’t have permission to access / on this server.
 * How can i solve it? The website starts working again (with the limitations written
   above) if i remove the file htaccess.

 * I had the same problem with pages, and I ended up not even using them.
 * As for the .htaccess , you can manually add a file called .htaccess in the root
   of your directory, give it read and write permissions (not sure about Execute)
   and then WordPress will update this file.
 * So, its easier to make the file blank, set premissions, and then let WordPress
   update it than to let WP create it from scratch… at least that is how I solved
   that one…
 * and make sure that directory has correct permissions too

 * Thanks, but how do i give permissions to .htaccess? I’m very new with code :).

   But as a default, there’s a htacess file with this permissions:
 * #Htaccess di seogoogle.it
    Options +ExecCGI +Indexes +Indexes AddHandler cgiwrap.
   cgi .pl .chm AddHandler php-cgiwrap .php4 .php .php3 AddHandler server-parsed.
   shtml DirectoryIndex .htredirect.html index.php welcome.php index.php3 index.
   htm default.htm default.php AddType text/html / #fine htaccess
 * what shoud I had to let WP work?
    Thanksa a lot!

 * I guess it would depend on the server and how you are uploading files to it.
   I am runnining my webserver off of a linux box.
 * I can use a shell to goto the directory and CHMOD the file itself. Or, I can
   use an FTP program (LeechFTP. CuteFTP. Ws-FTP etc) to upload the files to the
   server, then right click on the file and set the permissions from “Permissions”
   in the menu by checking whichever permissions I want to give the file – READ
   WRITE and or EXECUTE.
 * By permissions, I meant permissions of the .htaccess file itself, not what it
   has in it to do.

 * I have no problem on uploding files or other. I have problems only running wordpress.
   What permissions should I change? of what directories? I mean wp-admin?

 * the .htaccess file.
 * delete your .htaccess file
    Open Notepad,
 * put
    #Htaccess di seogoogle.it Options +ExecCGI +Indexes +Indexes AddHandler
   cgiwrap .cgi .pl .chm AddHandler php-cgiwrap .php4 .php .php3 AddHandler server-
   parsed .shtml DirectoryIndex .htredirect.html index.php welcome.php index.php3
   index.htm default.htm default.php AddType text/html / #fine htaccess
 * in it, save the file as .htaccess and upload it. If you are using an FTP program
   to upload it, try setting the permissions on the file as READ WRITE EXECUTE and
   see if then it will work.

 * I tried but still doesn’t work. From the assistance of the server they told me
   this:
 * You should set WordPress in order to make it not to modify
    .htaccess on the
   root.
 * I’m ogin crazy…:( what could i do?
