 * Hello,
 * The website I put down below isn’t my real one (for privacy reasons), but I got
   an email from WordPress yesterday:
 * > From: WordPress <wordpress@mywebsite.com>
   > To: [admin@mywebsite.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wordpress-pre-upgrade-check-failed/admin@mywebsite.com?output_format=md)
   > Subject: [My Website] Your site has updated to WordPress 4.2.2 Date: Thu, 7
   > May 2015 11:01:32 +0000
   > Howdy! Your site at [http://www.mywebsite.com](http://www.mywebsite.com) has
   > been updated automatically to WordPress 4.2.2.
   > No further action is needed on your part. For more on version 4.2.2, see the
   > About WordPress screen:
   > [http://www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin/about.php](http://www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin/about.php)
 * Then I got an email from Softaculous today:
 * > Auto upgrade process for the following installation cannot be completed, because
   > it does not meet the upgrade requirements :
   > Installation URL : [http://www.mywebsite.com](http://www.mywebsite.com)
   > Current Version : 4.2.1 Latest Version : 4.2.2
   > Error : The current version is greater than or equal to the version you are
   > upgrading to. This is possible if you manually upgraded the installation. If
   > this is not the case please check the following checkbox : <input type=”checkbox”
   > name=”version_override” /> Forcefully Upgrade
 * I checked the WordPress version in wp-admin today immediately following that
email and it was already 4.2.2. I didn’t do any manual upgrading up to that point.
 * The same thing happened last month. Softaculous indicates the wrong current version
even though my wp-admin shows the latest version. I keep getting that annoying
message. Is there a way to fix this?

 * What about asking Softaculous your question?

 * try **MANUAL** updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to
your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT
the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete
the old copies of files & folder on your server before uploading the new ones.
   Read the [Manual Update ](http://codex.wordpress.org/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update)
   directions first.

 * I was in cPanel and clicked on Softaculous and couldn’t find their contact info.
Erroneously thought that Softaculous was a product owned by WordPress. But upon
your suggestion, I viewed Softaculous as if it was a company instead of just
a product, and found their main website. Found their contact info. I’ll contact
   them soon.
 * Tara, I will contact Softaculous and see what they say since they probably deal
with it all the time. If they have nothing else to suggest, I’ll try what you
   suggested. Thanks.
