[resolved] WordPress plugin repo API tells WP.org sites to upgrade but installs old version (11 posts)

Whenever I release a new version of our plugin to the repo, for a period of a few minutes to an hour WordPress tells me to upgrade, but when I do upgrade it upgrades the plugin to the same (old) version instead of the new version.

It's like the API that WordPress.org sites talk to tells WP that there's a newer plugin version available but the download link still points to the older version for a period of time.

I'm updating my plugin's readme.txt and the main plugin.php file with the new version and then I create an appropriately named tag, so I'm pretty sure I'm releasing everything correctly. The plugin is wordfence in case you'd like to take a look.

    Thanks,

    Mark.

    Just wanted to add:

After posting this I released a new version of our plugin and the behaviour was:

Plugin page on wp.org shows new version available.

Go to my site and hit the plugins page. See there's an update available. Do the automatic upgrade. Details of the upgrade show the old version was installed and I'm still seing the notification to upgrade.

Wait an hour (approx) and try again and it does upgrade to the newest version this time.

    Mark.

  5. That's odd. The upgrade API usually runs a little slower (in my experience) than the svn one. I wonder if there's a weird caching issue.

Yes, this is correct. Not all servers update simultaneously, so for a few minutes or so, they will be out of sync.

    Not an error.

    Trying to resolve again.

  10. You don't have to post. Just go change the dropdown and hit save there ;)
