 * Hi, does anyone know why wordpress doesn’t just use relative paths instead of
   the full paths
 * full path = [http://www.mydomain.com/this-is-a-wordpress-page/](http://www.mydomain.com/this-is-a-wordpress-page/)
 * relative path = /this-is-a-wordpress-page/
 * This would then eliminate any problems when moving a wordpress site from one
   domain name to another etc…

 * It just the way the whole permalink (and possibly theme) system is built. There
   was some talk of completely rewriting the relevant part of core, so that might
   happen in the future but it will be a huge job, so don’t hold your breath. Keep
   on using absolute urls for the foreseeable future.

 * Ok cool, so if i have a site set up at demo.myserver.com and then i update the
   dns to point to the [http://www.domainname.com](http://www.domainname.com) when
   it is ready to be launched… should there be any problem… as i won’t be moving
   anything but the url of the site will change from demo.myserver.com to [http://www.domainname.com](http://www.domainname.com)
