Our current site has 11 static pages and 1,000 plus dynamic pages and was built in Dreamweaver.
It contains general information pages and dynamic online auction pages that translate automatically from Japanese to English. The information pages are in English though are also available in other languages with Google Translate.
We need to create more information pages and blogs in English and other languages, starting with with Spanish and Russian. We want pages developed by native speakers and not automatically translated pages.
The pages in languages other than English will be maintained by native speakers of that language. It would be good if the CMS was in English as well as the target language. We want to use WordPress with Thesis theme.
Is it necessary to install separate instances of WordPress/Thesis each with its own plugin to support the language characters?
My thought is that each language would be installed in its own subdirectory from the main domain. Is this the best way to do it?
Could there be issues with character set? The current site was set up to handle the Japanese to English online auction.
Thanks for your help.
