Today I’ve had some problems maintaining connection to my site while I have been working on it.

On more than one occasion, whilst I was attempting to save updates (isn’t that always the case? 🙂 ) the connection died and I received a nice and tidy comment box on my FF browser: “the server reset the connection” or IE6 (standard 404 page).

I hit refresh, but my website wouldn’t refresh or reload.
Interestingly enough, I could surf to my hearts content on any other website in the known universe, like now. Just not mine.

I rang my hosting provider and they informed me that there was no ‘entry log’ for this event their end, nor apparantly, was their servers down.

About 30mins later I was able to bring up my website and thus login back into WordPress admin interface.

Has anyone experienced this before? If so, is it wordpress or my hosting provider (although they say their servers aren’t down)?

    Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I’m still unable to bring up my website or even log back into the admin interface. I have added my own website URL to my “manage” whitelist with my security software, as an after thought thinking that perhaps I was blocking myself out.

But it didn’t make any difference. I’m still unable to find a connection.

PSS: I’m using the lastest version of WordPress

  • That sounds like a problem with your server, not WordPress files. I wonder if they just aren’t keeping your login cookie long enough, so you’re getting logged out before you have a chance to save your modifications. This might give you some lingo to use with your hosting service:

Look at post #5 of that thread.

So… admin session time are the miracle words?

I’ve been unable to establish a connection to my website now for 90mins… and still ticking away. 🙁

Hrm… Can you see your site at all? What about any pages that are not WordPress? That might be a good test. If you can see another PHP page on your site, but can’t see any WordPress pages, then you know it’s a problem with WP (or perhaps with your database).

OKay. I don’t have any pages on my site that isn’t generated by WordPress. I’ve only just installed 4 days ago and I’m in the process of designing my theme and categories…

regardless of what url I use, with my site name herein, I cannot get it to render.

I installed late last night: wp-print plugin
    today: Wp-email; cat visibility (but disabled); votio ratings (but connection failed from therein); wp-postratings;

I rang my hosting provider (again) – still waiting on someone to ring me back. I cannot even get into my cpanel administration, either.

Wow! I’m back in. 2.30hrs after the fact.

How did you resolve this? What happened?

    I didn’t personally resolve this.

Frankly, after 2.30hrs, I’m thinking it was my provider. Only they didn’t ring me back to confirm or deny if the server was down.

I have no ready answers other than I now have access, whereas before I didn’t.

    Sorry
