• Hi,
I’m trying to get my wordpress blog see from any other computer then mine for viewing.

I would like wordpress to work on
    http://www.oxnyx.com/blog/

Currently what I’m getting is HTTP 400 error unless I’m on my computer.

    Setup
    Vista Umlit. 64bit, Apache 2.2.8, PHP 5.2.6, MySql 5.0.51b
I have Open port 80 on the Window Firewall
I have Open Program Access for Apache and MySQL on the Firewall for incoming connections.
I can telnet to myself on port 80
Other computers on my network can connect to:
    http://192.168.2.10/test.php or http://embers/test.php
I have checked that my no-ip.com updater has the correct ip.
I have selected myself as a webserver on my remote/dsl modem.
I have for the time being set wordpress blog address as 192.168.2.10
I’m not sure what else I can due, I took a sniff with Wireshark and I see the error 400 go out but there no problem connecting to test.php.

  • Setting the URL values (Settings -> General tab) to 192.168.2.10 will ensure that only machines on your local network will find the blog as that is an non-routable address.

You need those values to be a proper DNS name or external IP address. You might look into a dynamic DNS service if necessary.

hi did you find the answer to this? i am having the same problem with a windows vista machine.

    thanks

bf65 that’s an old post and that address, is http://www.oxnyx.com/Blog/ and *NOT* http://www.oxnyx.com/blog/ which means that works and probably resolved

i think onyx is still having the same problem. But my problem sounds the same… I connected my laptop to the DSL directly and it works fine, but when i put my wireless router in between it wont load an entire page.

I opened up port 80 on the router and that didnt make a difference.

I put the computer into the DMZ, no difference.

    Any thoughts appreciated, thx.

thats a networking issue. Not a wordpress issue. your site loads fine for me at that IP.

I suggest using google to get a firm grasp on how to handle home networking.

so the page didnt hang for you? it hangs when i try to bring it up from my computer???

    go figure

like you said, my new router is blocking access. i setup a port forwarding rule (port 80) and it was blocking php pages for some reason. Then I put my old router in place with the virtual server option rather than the port forwarding option and it worked. My new router doesnt seem to have that option so i’m going to call them to find out how to do that.

    Thanks for your help
