[Resolved] WordPress on Windows SQL Server

    Hi,

I’m working on a site that currently runs on XAMPP on a Mac OS host, and I wish to migrate it into a Win2008 server environment using Windows SQL server. I’m worried about the export and import process of the database as the two SQL servers don’t exactly use the same SQL query. Are there some caveats I should be aware of?.

Well, I found a migration tool (SSMA for mysql) that allows me to migrate a database from mysql to sql. However, I’m worried that sql query in plugins and wordpress are written in mysql language, and may not be compatible with windows sql server. Should I worry about that?

Nothing to worry about exactly, if it’s MS SQL server then it won’t work. WordPress requires MySQL 5.0 or later not MS SQL. Different animal.

I’ve never tried it but you can run MySQL on a Windows Server though.
