WordPress on IIS 7.5 permissions issues Installing Plugins and updating Wordpres

I am running WordPress on IIS 7.5 (not by choice) on Server 2008 R2 and it seems that permissions issues are giving me fits.

When I try to update WP or update or install a plugin from within WP I get a message saying the install failed because the folder could not be created. In the case of an update, the folder is changed somehow at this time, and the plugin disappears from WP. The folder’s ownership is changed, and it says unable to display current owner. Attempts to change ownership fail, access is denied, in both the Windows interface and using takeown in a command prompt.

I would like to know what to do to fix the ownership or delete the folder, and also how to set up permissions correctly or an alternative method for updating and installing going forward.
