Hi! I have recently revived my old iBook Clamshell G3 to use in the kitchen for podcatching, internet radio, websurfing &c I’ve been trying to use it with wordpress and everything works fine, both in Camino and Opera, except that the write new post function is very hard to use with a small screen resolution. (800×600 on this iBook.) The window for writing the post and the other features on the right side of the screen overlap. I have been thinking that if just the full-screen button was on the left side of the editor in stead of on the right (being overlapped by the “Publishing” and “Format” windows on a small screen), this would solve the problem for anybody with a smaller screen size, since it would then be possible to wirte the post in full-screen and then go back and hit the Publiish button that is otherwise overlapping half of the text and some of the buttons in the field for editing the post. Most of the netooks out there probably have a greater resolution, but maybe some people with mobile phones or tablets might be experiencing the same problem? It might be worth moving this one button to the left to make it acsessible to the people that really need it. Just a suggestion. Otherwise I find wordpress to be stable and full of functionality and perfect for the more up-to-date machines and screens out there.

It’s not just the screen resolution, I suspect, it’s the OS. The modern Safari, even if I crank my fancy MacBook Pro to 800×600 (yeah, I just did that) doesn’t overlap. It makes me scroll.

What OS X animal do you have on it?

Aha. Panther. 10.3.9. I have got the newest Camino and the newest possible Opera. I have also tried with iCab and Safari (1.3.2).

On the dashboard, the fast publishing feature seems to work fine, so I will probably be using that if I want to blog from this machine in the future.

In the New post page, the only part that seems to be overlapped is the box for writing the text. The other boxes below are not being overlapped by anything, but are instead narrowed to fit. It seems like the row of buttons on top of the box for writing is too long and that it doesn’t wrap itself into two rows.

Thank you for your suggestion! 🙂 I’ve been thinking to get Tiger on it, even if it would probably be slow, just to be able to be more up to date with software, but after trying and failing once, I have sort of given up, at least for a while.
