Support » Fixing WordPress » WordPress not sending to trash

  • Hi, I’ve been trying to delete a page.
Tried from the right sidebar of the page “Move to Trash” and also from the Admin Pages area. The page will not go to trash. It has added “trashed” to the Permalink but the page is still live.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Update: Only way I could resolve it was to change it to a draft and then I was able to move it to trash.

    Have you tried:
    – Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches. Not just your browser, but any op cache or content network cache as well such as Cloudflare. That will solve many weird JavaScript issues.
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
resetting the plugins folder by FTP. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder (if you have created such folder).
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Sixteen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Thanks Tara. Will give it a try and report back. Have other ongoing issues, such as strange characters appearing since the wordpress update so perhaps that can also be fixed.
