WordPress Not Respecting Image Order

    I’ve installed a brand new version of WordPress on localhost, with only the default plugins (Hello Dolly and Akismet). I haven’t made any configuration changes. It is a squeaky clean install (fresh out of the box) with the default theme TwenetyFifteen.

    I go to the “Hello World” post page and create an Image Gallery. I then view the image Gallery and can click through the images in the correct order.

    However if I edit the gallery and drag the images into a different order. When I go back to view the images, it no longer respects the new image order when I try to click through the images.

    I have repeated this test with TwentyTweleve and they both fail.

    In contrast if I activate Jetpack Carousel it does respect the image order.

    Is there a way to make this work for normal image galleries?
