# WordPress Not Recognizing MySQL

 * My webhost just updated my server’s version of MySQL so I can use WordPress 3.2.1.
   I can see in phpMyAdmin that I’m now running MySQL 5.1.52-1.
    However, when I
   try to update WordPress, I still get the message: “You cannot update because 
   WordPress 3.2.1 requires MySQL version 5.0 or higher. You are running version
   4.1.22.” I contacted my hosting company just to be certain and they insist that
   everything has been changed over; the fact that I can see the version number 
   for the database in phpMyAdmin make me pretty certain that I’m running the correct
   version of MySQL. So why can’t WordPress see it? I tried to do a manual update
   but WordPress is still incapable of recognizing that I’m running a compatible
   version of MySQL. Any thoughts?
