Support » Fixing WordPress » WordPress no longer recognizing my username OR password

  • I recently upgraded to 3.7.1. Not sure if that’s the issue, but I no longer have access to make changes to my site:

When I go to sign in, it just rejects all of my information that has always remained the same. Even when I try to get a new password, WordPress rejects my username.

Help, please. This is my business site and I can’t afford to be locked out of it.

See if any of these methods work for resetting that:

BTW, do you have any security plugins?

How recently have you logged in prior to this?

I’ll try that. haven’t logged in for a couple of weeks. Don’t know about security plugins. Certainly haven’t added any new ones recently unless they came with the upgrade.

There is no Edit User screen. All I get is the usual space asking me for my username or email and then the password. When I go to the page asking to reset passwords, it rejects ALL of my emails and usernames. All of them.

You need to read the rest of that article – you will need to use FTP or phpMyAdmin to reset your password. That access will be via your hosting company.

Went in, changed the password via ftp. Still not working. WordPress site just refreshes the page and asks me for the info all over again. It simply does not want to acknowledge that I have entered the correct information. It doesn’t even say incorrect. It simply refreshes and ignores what I’ve done.
