WordPress Newbie Question (3 posts)

I'm not sure what version of WordPress I'm using. I'm new to using WordPress and web design.

    So here is the question:

I want to learn to do web sites for people for money. If I have a paid account with wordpress, can I have multiple web sites under my own account, or do I need to set up a separate account for each web site?

When you sign up for a wordpress web site, you are asked to provide an email address. At first, I do not want any email to go to the client right away until I have a chance to do the work on their site.

So, what is the best strategy for managing web sites when doing these for other people ?

If you're interesting in learning about web development and design, and I mean really learning about it, I would suggest interning at an established firm. You can learn a lot hacking through it by yourself, but there is no substitute for having an experienced, highly skilled mentor.

A lot of community colleges offer two year degrees as well, and if you apply yourself at them, you can pull a lot more out of it than the basic course material.

Above is good advice re: learning. As to your other question, WordPress.ORG does not host or charge for anything. You have to set up hosting with a company - and install WP there - and any questions about sites/cost/accounts should go to the hosting company. But within WP, you CAN set up various users and/or emails. You can also move sites - so that's another way many people build sites on their own servers and then move to a client's. But all of this is a bit of cart before the horse - as you learn about WP and use it, a lot of this will become quite clear.
