WordPress new site in subdirectory redirecting

Hi,

I have been building a wordpress site in a sub directory of an existing wordpress site and i am having issues with it redirecting. I have made a duplicate database from the old site to use in the new site.

For instance the old site is

http://www.oldsite.com

and the new site is

http://www.oldsite.com/newsite.

If i hover over a link in newsite it has the right url http://www.oldsite.com/newsite/somepage

but when i click it it goes to http://www.oldsite.com/somepage.

I have tried forcing it in the wp-config using:

define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://www.oldsite.com/newSite’); define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’http://www.oldsite.com/newSite’);

And I have set the url in the wp_options table in the database. It is on a windows server so I can’t do anything in a .htaccess file 🙁

Can anyone suggest how to fix this?
