  • WordPress needs to become a desktop application. Meaning it needs to install on the a PC Desktop and the web site developed from there. When the user had finished devloping the web site at a click of a button publish the site.

Currently web site development software does this and it would great to see wordpress take that jump as well.

Having to log in to write a comment and then publish it from the admin section can be a bit of a nightmare for some people. Being able to do this from their desktops would only see wordpress become even more popular.

I have seen scripts that from the desktop will install wordpress on the server, this is just taking it a further step.

Time and distance may see this happen and many would look forward to that day, using all the admin section tools from within their desktop instead of having to log-in via the web.

You can use one of the many remote publishing tools that use the XMLRPC or APP apis that WordPress provides to write and publish from your desktop.

Examples: Windows Live Writer, Ecto, MarsEdit and many more – Weblog_Client

    Thanks Peter

Using windows what would you recommend?

Using Max OS 10.6.5 what would you recommend?

If you follow the link, you’ll see the list of desktop clients is rather long, and Peter suggested the top names: Windows Live Write for Windows, MarsEdit for Mac, Ecto if you need something cross-platform.

If you use Windows Live Writer (and it’s what I use) the use this plug-in:

Windows Live Writer is actually one of the best editors on the go, at least for Windows. Ties in quite nicely with WordPress.
