WordPress Multisite subdomains and sharing the same upload folder

1. Is it possible to develop each language of the multisite under a subdomain structure?

One thing to be aware, that the main site by default is nameofthesite.com (is not living under a subdomain). One way to “fix” this is to can create a fourth installation that would act as your primary site and you can redirect the user to the spanish.nameofthesite.com.

2. Is it possible in a multisite to share one single image folder, instead of cloning the image folder when creating a site in the Administration?

By default this functionality is not provided, however, there are plugins which intend to add this functionality, for example, https://wordpress.org/plugins/network-shared-media/

1.You might want to look at the plugin WPML that enables multiple languages on one single WP install. http://wpml.org

Saves time on maintainance (1 WP install versus 3)

It might be “a bot” late, but here goes…
I’m using Multisite Language Switcher (free plugin) for different subdirs per language. This gives you the option to give each subdir a different domain name as well. 😉

It had looked into WPML earlier, as suggested by Edwin, but that had too many bugs for me.
