Support » Installing WordPress » WordPress migration – now can't login!

  • I recently migrated a wordpress site (files and mysql) to a new domain name. everything seemed to have worked fine, but when i went to the new domain name and accessed the admin login, wordpress would redirect to the original site and all the links would also redirect to the original site.

on the dashboard i went to settings and tried to change the site url to the new domain, hoping this might solve the problem. now i can’t login to the admin site at all and the password reset (via email) does not work! the following error comes up: Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid.

Can anyone help me with this?

  • have you pointed the new domain name to the respective nameservers?

I’m not sure how that has anything to do with it. The site was up an running once I migrated everything. It was just when I changes the site URL in the wordpress settings that I could no longer access the wp-admin.

If the nameservers were a problem, the site wouldn’t have worked to begin with, right?

You still have the your old urls in wp_posts so you need change them to new domain name I have article on my website how to change urls in database
