    When I enable JS optimization the audio player no longer works.

    I am not using a plugin for audio. Instead, in my theme, I create a text block and embed the actual mp3 sound file directly in the text, such as:

    https://www.visionsofheaven.com/xxxxx/xxxx.mp3

    where xxx are path and file names.

    I’ve excluded the following js files in autoptimize:
    seal.js, js/jquery/jquery.js, editor.min.js, wp-content/plugins/thrive-leads/

    I’m sure I just need to exclude some media file – has anyone else had problems with this? Or do you know how I’d discover the right script if I disabled autoptimize JS and then looked in the code? I’m pretty new to understanding all this but can learn!

    Thank you!

    Morning Ann;
    Can you try adding wp-includes/js/mediaelement/ to the comma-separated JS optimization exclusion list?

    frank

    I tried that but still not working – here are my excludes:

    seal.js, js/jquery/jquery.js, editor.min.js, wp-content/plugins/thrive-leads/, wp-includes/js/mediaelement/

    ok, so what I see is that the mp3 mediaplayer renders, but that when clicking on “play” nothing happens because the mp3-file 404’s (is not found);

    but I actually see the same thing happening when AO is not active (which one can trigger on a per-request basis by adding ?ao_noptimize=1 to the URL);

    So based on the above I _think_ this might _not_ be a problem due to Autoptimize after all?

    Oh goodness, thank you. Let me look into this further. It might have just been coincidence that the audio player broke around the same time I started playing with the plugin. Thank you – it really does not look like an Autoptimize issue as you said. I will post back when I figure out what is going on. Thank you!

    I’ve figured it out, and it is definitely NOT a problem with autoptimize. Please feel free to delete this post entirely if you like. I apologize.

    I switched to SSL about the same time I started playing with autoptimize, and although I used a plugin to change my http’s to https’s, not all got switched. It has nothing to do with this plugin. I’m sorry for taking your time, but appreciate it.
