  • In my permalinks page i have a number of errors and a message about .htaccess being unwriteable

No surprise as it’s looking for it here:
    /var/www/vhosts/.htaccess

Checked permissions a dozen times, all good, replaced core files, tried no plugins, tried 2011 theme, checked database for said path, contacted hosting. No change…

The website works fine however so this is merely an annoyance. What could be wrong?

  • An update to this mystery:

In Permalinks i set it to default. The message came back “Permalink structure updated” but still with the mass of errors:

I tested the site and there were still pretty links but all going to the wrong pages!

I restored my custom structure and clicked save, got the errors and this time a warning of htaccess not being writeable. However things were running properly on the site again. Weird.

Got the same issue. Seems it’s caused by wrong php include path in servers configuration and should be solved by defining the right path in php.ini. But you need access to servers configuration.
