  • I’m having to re-design this website: which is currently uses WP 3.2.1

I upgraded it to 3.3.2 but the WP-admin dashboard went blank on me and had how resort to go back to old version. First of all – why is this?

Secondly, as I need to do a re-design and don’t want to interrupt the current site I first thought about creating a Child Theme but after reading how it works I think i could get into further trouble as it will affect the current theme as I go along.

Therefore I came across the option of downloading and running WP locally (on mac using mamp) – but my question is…if I download and work to the latest version of WP, how do i then go about moving it all across to where the current site sits and not encounter these WP version conflicts yet keep on the posts and pages in tact from old site?

Appreciate any help and advice thank you.

    1. Sounds like you have a bad theme or plugin. Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    2. See Moving_WordPress.
