WordPress Layout

After an extremely frustrating morning at attempting to layout my photos and text in a blog I am ready for something better. Does anyone have any personal experience with a plugin that helps with the layout of photos and text in a blog post? With the standard WordPress it is very difficult to get the photos to go exactly where I want them. They keep moving when I add captions or even though I place a photo at the end of a paragraph one or two words of the paragraph ends up at the bottom of the photo while the rest of the text is at the side or top.
