Support » Fixing WordPress » WordPress kills my VPS

  • It’s been few months since my VPS started suddenly dying for no obvious reason. Sometimes up to twice a week. Final investigation showed lots of references of wp-admin/admin.php trying to allocate large chunks of memory, eventually causing the VPS to run out of it (512 MB) and die. At first I thought it might be caused by third parties trying to log/hack, so I denied access to wp-admin to everyone except my own IP. And then it happened again. Support says another client is also experiencing the same problem. Anyone else? And is there a solution?

    What plugins are you using?

Have you considered using a caching tool?

Just user experience plugins, I’m using on all my other WP instances on the very same server. Nothing special or memory intensive. The problem is caused by a specific WP installation. All other installations are working just fine, even that some of them receive more daily visits. Not sure, but I think it all started when I upgraded to 3.0.1

Installed W3 Total Cache a couple of weeks ago. Didn’t change anything.

Thanks for the reads, will look into them.

    Just user experience plugins,

Those can affect the backend too.

But if other installs on the same server are fine, then I would seriously scour my plugins for that one install. Check the theme.
