Support » Installing WordPress » wordpress Installation To existing mysql database

  • Hi all,

Recently my three wordpress sites were hacked, and as a result one of my sites was reported as an attack site in Google. I deleted the wordpress installations, but kept the mysql databases I still have access to the existing mysql databases. I am a bit lost though on how to add wordpress to these existing databases. I really am quite inept at this sort of thing so I don’t want to mess it up.

I started a new wordpress site with my old site name, this obviously created a new mysql database, I want to swap over the new database to the old one so I then access to my original posts comments etc. Is this possible? and is there an easy and newb friendly way to do this?

I have read a couple of things regarding this, but like I said, I’m completely new to this sort of thing so don’t want to mess it up.

edited this to say I have a backup of the old wp-config.php files.

  • Fixed this by reinstalling fresh wordpress installation and replacing the wp.config.php file from old backup using FTP.
