# WordPress installation problem

 * When I install and setup wordpress on my localhost, this is the error message
   that I have got. May I know how can I solve this problem? Thanks.

    Can’t select database
 * We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and
   password is okay) but not able to select the wordpress database.
 *  Are you sure it exists?
    Does the user root have permission to use the wordpress
   database? On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username,
   so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?
 * If you don’t know how to set up a database you should contact your host. If all
   else fails you may find help at the WordPress Support Forums.

 * I also have the same problem, I have modified the config many ways and it still
   gives me an error when I view index.php.
    e.g. MySQL database username */ define(‘
   DB_USER’, – I tried DB_USER as ‘USER_DB’ = NOTHING as ‘USER’ = Still nothing.

 * login to phpmyadmin select the database it will show the prefix.
 * If nothing works drop all your tables, delete the existing wp-config.php make
   sure you have the wp-config sample.php
 * Then start installing it again.
 * This is not an exact tutorial but it shows [how to drop the tables](http://vikasknowsit.blogspot.com/2014/03/how-to-fix-wordpress-admin-login-error.html)
   and configure again.

   I had to load my username as both DB name and user @ localhost.
