[Resolved] WordPress Installation, Dreamhost and 123-reg

  • Hi
I’m new to all this website stuff. I got domain names from 123-reg and hosting from dreamhost, and would like to create a website using WordPress.

I’ve changed the nameservers at 123-reg to ns1.dreamhost.com, ns2.dreamhost.com, ns3.dreamhost.com, however it comes with an error

    “Setting nameservers to ns3.dreamhost.com , ns1.dreamhost.com and ns2.dreamhost.com
    Please wait…
Nameservers for mywebsite.com were not changed to
    ns3.dreamhost.com , ns1.dreamhost.com and ns2.dreamhost.com
Error text: Registry error, domain’s nameservers not updated [Required parameter missing domain:empty non-extended is not allowed value ]
If you are attempting to modify nameservers for an .eu domain, we are currently looking into this issue.
please try again later.”

But when I log into 123-reg it says that the nameserves are changed to dreamhost. So I’m entirely sure if I’ve done this correctly??

I’ve installed wordpress to my website using one-click install at dreamhost, but haven’t received any login details from wordpress. When I click on the link (http://www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin/install.php) dreamhost sent me, after wordpress was sucessfully installed it directs me it takes me to 123-reg website.

Please help!! Do I just have to wait 48 hours for all these things to become active? Have I missed something out??

    Thanks

  • The nameservers should be:

    ns1.dreamhost.com
    ns2.dreamhost.com
    ns3.dreamhost.com

Do you want me setting ur site free? πŸ™‚

Thanks – yes I put them in that order, ns1, ns2, ns3 however as soon as i click on change nameservers it sends me this messgae and reorders them 3, 1, 2

hmm…lemme try..!! plz mail me ur 123reg and dreamhost credentials and ill fix it in 20 mins. (ill try my best).. ill not share ur details.. mail me at [ redacted support is offered via the forum and NOT email ]

    No – that’s fine thanks.

hmm..ok….. but try.. ordering NSs as:

    ns3.dreamhost.com
    n2.dreamhost.com
    ns1.dreamhost.com

NOTE THAT DNS PROPOGATION MAY TAKE UPTO 24 HRS………………..

and try to install WordPress manually (by uploading files on ur FTP) if possible πŸ™‚

Thanks – yes will wait 24 hours and see what happens

ashish960, please don’t ask for people’s login credentials here: it would be an extremely poor security practice for anyone to give full access to a stranger like that. Your intention may be to help, but that’s not always the case, and it’s not allowed on these forums.

    Usually it only takes 15 mins… πŸ™‚

and yupp… in ur 123reg Admin Panel, make sure to delete all records and re-enter that records (Dreamhost NSs)…… πŸ™‚

Amy Hendrix (sabreuse), I’m Sorry..!! πŸ™‚

    Hi deepa1234,

I work on behalf of 123-reg.

Can you confirm if the issue has now been resolved? If not, email me your domain name and I will have a look into it for you.

    Thanks.

The issue has been resolved. And I would never give my details to a stranger in a forum like this.

Just to let anyone who has a similar query in the future – never give out your domain name, domain hosting or web hosting details to a stranger.

When you first set this up, the DNS propagation can take some time. Just wait 24 hours and be patient – which is what I should have done before posting on this forum.

As two members have already asked for my details.
