  • This is actually being installed in and served by a web server is it?

Yes, i uploaded the files to the server yesterday and i followed the directions. Upon clicking on the install.php all i get is a pop up wordpad . It is supposed to sefl install right?

garybigg. Do not click on install.php.
After uploading the files, go to the url
in other words, access the install.php page using your favourite browser.

would i replace with my own domain name?

yes, of course, I am sorry I forgot to mention that. so now, If were your domain name and if wordpress files are in the wordpress folder in your website’s root, then is where you should go to , using your browser, to install.

Ok i did that now i get an error message saying:
Error establishing a database connection! This probably means that the connection information in youn wp-config.php file is incorrect. Double check it and try again.
Are you sure you have the correct user/password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
At least i got something this time !

I’m in, thanks for all the help !
