    I don't know how to search on this topic and not get hundreds of irrelevant hits, so excuse me if this has been answered before.

    I just did the upgrade from 2.0.4. I followed the instructions for upgrading in the codex by deleting the old files first, then uploading the new files.

    However, when I log in to my admin panel, the version number at the bottom still reads 2.0.4. And I don't see any obvious changes in the admin panel, either. Did I do something wrong?

    The only thing I can think of is that I did not delete the wp-admin folder before uploading the new files--I overwrote it. Then realizing what I did, I went back and deleted it, then uploaded the new files.

    Alright, I simply did a re-upgrade from scratch, and now my blog is at 2.1.1. I am still getting an error message in my sidebar, however:

    WordPress database error: [Unknown column 'cat_' in 'order clause']
    SELECT * FROM wp_categories WHERE cat_ID > 0 AND link_count > 0 ORDER BY cat_-1 ASC

    Might this be due to some customization I did in how my Links are displaying, maybe? I seem to remember customizing the code for the order in which links display, but it's been a long time...need to check it.

    In my sidebar I had the following code:

    <?php get_links_list('');?>

    I removed the empty quotes such that it looked like this:

    <?php get_links_list();//removed '' ?>

    and the problem went away. However the admin for sorting the blogroll does not affect the displayed sort order. I have a feeling that this function is deprecated or something.
