WordPress insering + signs between names in comments

    This is such a small problem compared to other people’s issues but recently I have noticed that WordPress is inserting + signs in between some names when people fill out a comment form.

    Today the two I have seen so far are people that have been approved for a long time. I don’t know if it will happen when someone new comments. I’ve had to edit the name of the commenter and then approve their comments.

    Examples from today are Elephants+Child and Liz+Cormack. I’m running the most recent version of WordPress core, plugins and my premium theme. This is also happening with a friend’s site that I maintain and he uses a different default WordPress theme so it isn’t them related.

    Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

    -Try this install health check plugin which can be used in troubleshooting mode to deactivate all plugins and theme
    might help narrow down the source of the issue

    -Do the 2 sites use any of the same plugins?

    I can’t reproduce this using WordPress 5.8 with no plugins.
    There have been similar issues before, e.g. this or this.
    They all were related to plugins, so I’d assume this issue is also plugin related.
    I’d disable plugins one by one to see which one of them causes the issue.
