WordPress Infinite link problem?
-
Hi @devrekli
The website is on WordPress.COM, please post this question here in WordPress.COM forum: https://wordpress.com/forums/ 🙂
Maybe if you brought up the real issue with your own website, with examples from your own website, rather than referencing someone else’s independent website (which has nothing to do with the WordPress software project)… we could help you out.
As it is now, we really can’t speculate on what’s happening on someone’s independent site that we don’t control or manage.
Good luck!
I just said an example site. Having WordPress.com does not mean that it is not wordpress script. 🙂 If you do not know, please do not make unnecessary comments!

Hi @devrekli,
Previously before replying, I have tested on the post of two websites:
https://www.codeinwp.com/blog/best-javascript-animation-libraries/comment-page-5754/
https://winningwp.com/mailpoet-review/comment-page-5754/Again now I have tested on another two websites:
https://www.wpcrafter.com/manage-multiple-wordpress-sites-in-one-dashboard/comment-page-5754/
https://www.smartpassiveincome.com/predictable-marketing-funnel-facebook-ads/comment-page-5754/I have found all links are redirecting to their original post properly.
Like:
https://www.websitename.com/post-name/comment-page-5754/
automatically redirecting to
https://www.websitename.com/post-name/
That’s why I thought this problem maybe only with WordPress.COM websites.
Your provided links have also a point, because they are not redirecting as of mine.
I looked at the examples you said but If we do not paginate, this is no problem.
This problem happens in paginations..
If the setting is like this. screen shot: https://prnt.sc/smhi90
You see this problem in my examples?
thanks
Hi @devrekli
I have tested after applying settings and yes now I got the similar issue.
So how can I fix this? thanks

My examples and your examples are completely different also have a strong point.
Sorry, I have never noticed a problem like this.
We both should wait for a positive reply. 🙂
<never mind… I was wrong.>

Having infinite links is wrong for me. I have never seen anything like it in another script before. And This is the problem for google search console.
There are no comments on those pages. Those links shouldn’t be.
How can I redirect these bad links to 404 page? thanks.

Yui made a suggestion you may want to consider, since it is the simpler option.
Have a look at this 🙂 https://yoast.com/rel-canonical/
Basically you are telling search engines where the original content lives, which should help you avoid duplicate content issues.I have already done this. Unfortunately this is not a solution to this problem. thanks
rel-canonical is now used by everyone. but this is not the solution. google sees it as “alternative page” and crawls them.
There are also bad links for pages with no comments. Google crawls these links but there are no comments on those pages. (comment-page-2383 like this)
we should redirect these bad links to 404 page, but how? thanks

Hello. WordPress has endless link problems for many years. Note: This problem happens when we paged comment example:
https://automattic.design/2020/05/22/web-design-inspiration/comment-page-3/
https://automattic.design/2020/05/22/web-design-inspiration/comment-page-3986/
https://automattic.design/2020/05/22/web-design-inspiration/comment-page-5999/
https://automattic.design/2020/05/22/web-design-inspiration/comment-page-6786/
Attention! There are no comments on these pages. But the links are entering the article. This is the problem for google search console.
If there is no comment, that link should not work. How can I fix this? thanks
