# WordPress Importer Question

 * Hi, I am making a local, duplicate copy of a live word-press website. While using
   the WordPress Importer, is their any risk of it damaging the database and/or 
   attachments of the live website if something were to freeze or go wrong during
   the import?
 * I just want to make sure it is only copying, with 0 risk of anything damaging
   the live website.

 * WordPress Importer does not directly copy a db, you have to export the old one
   first and then import that. The export should do no damage.

 * Thanks, I did an export of the database and it is about 200mb. Changed all the
   php.ini settings to handle it the import. If I have most likely about 2 gb of
   attachments, is it better for me to copy those folders over manually or use the
   automatic feature included in WordPress importer? Again just want to remove any
   risk of effecting the live website.

 * Copy all media folders over manually and just export posts pages etc (not media)
   MySQL also has a limit on import size (might be able to adjust on local install).
