# wordpress-importer deactivated when migrating

 * I created a site using a local host. I migrated it to my web host yesterday using
   [these instructions](http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-move-wordpress-from-local-server-to-live-site/).
 * Everything went as expected, but still no live site. When I logged into wp to
   poke around, I found two error messages in the plugins: “The plugin `wordpress-
   importer.php` has been deactivated due to an error”. The other was a plugin associated
   with the theme, but since the theme wasn’t installed, I imagine that’s the cause
   of that one.
 * I know just enough to be dangerous, so I am lost with this one. Any suggestions?

 * Step 7 in those instructions is seriously broken. Many URLs and paths are stored
   in the database in ‘serialized’ form where the string length is stored with the
   text. If you only replace the text, and not the length, it will be broken.
