Support » Plugin: WordPress HTTPS (SSL) » WordPress HTTPS (SSL) Plugin locking up dashboard

  • I added in the WordPress HTTPS (SSL) plugin and as soon as I did I got locked out from being able to access my dashboard! I went to the FAQ section for the plugin and it says to reset the plugin settings. It said to Go to /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-https/wordpress-https.php and uncomment (remove the two forward slashes before) the line below, or go to your wp-config.php file and add this line. Hit any page on your site, and then remove it or comment it out again.
    define(‘WPHTTPS_RESET’, true);

    My question is, to access the /wp-content/plugin/wordpress-htpps/wordpress-https.php where do I go? Is this something I have to do via FTP?

    Yes. You will need to download that file, open it in a plain text editor, make the necessary changes and re-upload the amended file to the same location.

    I deleted the wordpress-https.php folder before doing this. I tried uploading the folder again (I saved a back up of the one that was installed), and then trying this procedure to uninstall. It did not work. Is there any way to manually do this other than resetting the plugin?

    Well, you can’t do that. The plugin has to be active to reset itself. Install the plugin, activate it, uncomment the line out, hit any page, comment the line back out and everything will be fine.
