WordPress FTP login Issues and Syncing Question

    Hi,

    I would like to know why I cannot log into the FTP uploader on my own hosted WordPress. I checked the password time over time and it should be logging me in.

    On another note, I’d like to know how you guys handle your WordPress. Do you sync your wordpress.com and self hosted wordpress? Is there any way to do so? I’m slowly thinking that hosting my own wordpress is start to seem too complex to be honest, I’m spending more time setting it up and editing it than actually running and posting on one.

    Hi Phil,

    Why you can’t access FTP via your own server could be due to a whole bunch of different reasons, which most likely have nothing to do with WordPress. I suggest you contact your hosting company to help you troubleshoot the issue. Probably you aren’t entering the right hostname or there’s a specific port or type of connection you need to use with your host.

    As far as I know, there is no way to sync a wordpress.com and self-hosted WordPress installation…

    If you’re finding that self-hosted WordPress is too complex for your needs, and you’re comfortable with just editing your content, just know that there’s a ton of resources out there on the web to help you out. Nonetheless, maybe it’s best to stick to something easier such as wordpress.com for the time being?

    There’s also a few turn-key self-hosted WordPress companies such as http://page.ly that might be more in your league, where you have more options than in a wordpress.com site, but you still have much more control.
