  • It’s possible to set up HTML5 to do some sort of gaming actions, but that’s something that’s far beyond this forum. If you can get something like that running you can integrate this into a WordPress website.

I am curoius though, what sort of games do you want to actually produce?

Thanks for you answer catacaustic, its difficult to be exact about the type of game as that would be dependent on the scope of what’s possible with wordpress if indeed it is viable at all (why im asking). The limits or not of the wordpress platform would be the canvas on which to flesh out the game concept.

Another reason I’m considering word press is because i have really nice template which it has strong social features to built into it(kleo template) which is important as i aiming to create a hybrid social-network/game.

Could you point me in the right direction of which forum would be more suited my question that would be super helpful?

ps i love your profile pic 🙂

What’s possible with WordPress is a lot – But it depends on if you’re looking for a game like you’d get on a XBox, Play Station, etc, or if you’re looking for something like you see on Facebook. If it’s a Facebook-type thing then sure, it will work fine.

Thanks Catacaustic. The games on Facebook vary quite a lot ranging from the words with friends and candy crush saga type of games to full 3d fps games. Initially im thinking about more 2d types of game with a lot of dynamic actions, bellow is a list of the sort elements i would like to be able to use to create the game.

    -Standard social network functions
-Animations: dynamic progress bars, dynamic numbers & text, charts, graphs, buttons/tiles, lines, svg objects
    -Drag&drop
    -Sound
    -Real time multi user interaction

It’s very important that it can be played in real time. I’m also curious about web gl. I’ve been looking around i’ve seen some really nice showcase examples and wonder if it can be integrated into wordpress in a meaningful way.

Games are pretty much always built outside of a website and integrated into it later. some things ike social sharing, etc may be more integrated, but that can come later. If you really want something like this you will need to look at working out your own gaming API as Facebook has done. It’s a huge job, but is definately possible.
