 * Okay, so I am a new wordpress user starting a website and I am confused about
FTP filezilla. After starting filezilla and transferring all of the wordpress
data from the htdocs folder (put there for Mamp) into the public_html folder,
I am still not seeing anything on the website. Is this because the domain has
not propagated yet? Also, do I have to transfer the files from local host to
remote site everytime I blog a post?
    Thanks

 * If you have a site on a live server, you generally do all of your work directly
on that site via a browser. The local site isn’t connected to the server – WP
isn’t really designed to sync or to move content frequently.
 * What’s the domain name on the server?

 * Is the server the same thing as the host? My host is hostgator and domain is
whoafacts.com and I am using filezilla to upload the files from the local site
to the remote site. Are you saying that I can create posts through WP-dashboard
and it will automatically show up on the site?

 * Yep, server is the same as the host. And yes, you should be doing all of your
work via a browser to access the site on Hostgator?
 * You should be able to login to that site via:

 * Sorry, missed that you posted the domain name – I don’t see WP installed on your
site there at all – have you done so?

 * Oh, what I did was install wordpress separately and I thought that they would
connect somehow. I think I see now how it works, but does that mean I don’t need
filezilla? or FTP? are those for non-wordpress sites?

 * Sometimes you may need FTP access to your site, for various reasons such as manually
installing Themes, or plugins or if there’s a problem that makes it impossible
to access your site via the Dashboard. So it’s definitely good to have that set
up, but for regular WP use, you don’t need to use it.
