Support » Fixing WordPress » WordPress Export./Import not displaying galleries

  • Exported content from a previous WordPress installation (also 3.4.1) and imported on a clean install. I have all the image files (manually uploaded them to the correct folder via FTP when pulling via the importer didn’t work).

The images that were single photos embedded in posts work fine, but anything that was inserted as a WordPress gallery (via the standard WordPress media library) does not show up.

Any way to fix this? I’m willing to search/replace links or something if I need to, but it would take forever to recreate the gallery in EVERY post that contains one…ugh…

There’s your problem. You either have to import all images or you will have to re-upload the images via WordPress.

Well, I tried importing them via the importer first – didn’t work. Kept getting “failed to import media” notices (even though I exported everything – probably b/c my old site isn’t accessible at this point). So I manually uploaded them via FTP and then used the Add From Server plugin to add them to the media library. I also manually edited the XML file BEFORE import to update all the links to the new paths.

If that didn’t work to point everything to the correct files, then why do the individual files show up? I DO see photos that were attached to posts individually. What I DON’T see are ones where the post contains a GALLERY.

    Does that make sense?

Are the images in those galleries attached to the correct Page or Post?

    Was this problem solved?
